Article Processing Charges (APCs)
The International Journal of Frontier Sciences (TIJFS) is a fully open-access journal. To support the costs associated with editorial processing, peer review management, production, online hosting, archiving, and long-term digital preservation, the journal applies an Article Processing Charge (APC).
APC Amount
-
USD 1,000 per accepted manuscript
The APC applies to all article types published in TIJFS, including original research articles, review articles, short communications, case reports, case series, and letters except editorials.
When Are APCs Charged?
-
APCs are charged only after the manuscript has been formally accepted for publication following peer review.
-
No submission fees and no peer-review fees are charged at any stage.
What the APC Covers
The APC covers:
-
Editorial assessment and peer-review management
-
Manuscript processing and production
-
Online publication and open-access dissemination
-
Long-term digital archiving
-
Website hosting and journal administration
All articles are published under the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license, ensuring free and unrestricted access to published content.
Waivers and Discounts
TIJFS may grant partial or full APC waivers or discounts in specific circumstances, including but not limited to:
-
Authors from low- and middle-income countries
-
Reviewers and editorial board members
-
Exceptional cases at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief
Requests for waivers or discounts must be made prior to or at the time of manuscript acceptance.
APC Waiver and Discount Policy
TIJFS is committed to promoting equitable access to scholarly publishing. APC waivers and discounts are granted based on the World Bank country income classification, using the corresponding income category of the corresponding author’s primary institutional affiliation.
World Bank–Based Waiver Formula
| World Bank Income Category | APC Policy |
|---|---|
| Low-Income Countries (LICs) | 100% APC waiver |
| Lower-Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) | 50% APC discount |
| Upper-Middle-Income Countries (UMICs) | 25% APC discount |
| High-Income Countries (HICs) | No automatic waiver |
(World Bank classifications are applied according to the most recent annual update.)
Additional Considerations
-
The waiver or discount applies only to the corresponding author.
-
Requests must be submitted at the time of submission or before acceptance.
-
Waivers are independent of editorial decisions and do not influence peer review.
-
Supporting documentation (institutional affiliation or country confirmation) may be requested.
Discretionary Waivers
In exceptional cases, additional waivers or discounts may be granted at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief, including for:
-
Active reviewers and editorial board members
-
Early-career researchers without funding
-
Manuscripts of significant scientific or public health importance
Invoice and Payment
-
An official APC invoice is issued after acceptance.
-
Payment instructions and timelines are provided on the invoice.
-
APC payments are generally non-refundable once the article enters the production stage.
Transparency and Ethics
The application of APCs has no influence on editorial decision-making. All manuscripts are evaluated solely on scientific merit, originality, and relevance, in accordance with COPE and ICMJE guidelines.
